So basically I have had students create a name tag that is representative of themselves or a partner. To do this the students work through the Design Thinking Process where they, or their partner, is the intended audience. They interview/brainstorm (Empathy), narrow down the information (define), generate ways of representing these ideas visually (ideate / prototype), share these with partner or get feedback (test), make changes and improve (ideate), create sketch including measurements and details while providing multiple perspectives (prototype), share again (test), make any changes (ideate), and then go and actually create this name tag (prototype). We then put magnets on the back and this is what I use for student attendance as they move their name tag to show that they are present. I have done this the last two years now, with some modifications, but have loved seeing the students response to the activity; especially when they are creating for someone else.
